Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 7-31-24
O-R fire calls

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, July 23 through Monday, July 29. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, JULY 29

Battalion 2: Crews attended quarterly EMS training.

10:47 a.m. – Engine 7 was dispatched to a bicycle rider down in the roadway on Central Avenue in Station 26’s area. BC2 was in the area and arrived with OVA. Due to the patient’s injuries, an air ambulance was requested, and the patient was transported to a local trauma facility.

Battalion 5: 9:43 p.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, Quint 22, and BC5 responded to a potential structure fire in the 500 block of Reynolds Avenue in Oakdale. Crews operated in investigation mode on a single-story house with nothing showing and determined there was no fire. The responding balance was cancelled.

 

SUNDAY, JULY 28

Battalion 2: Stanislaus Consolidated Fire C-Shift Companies finished rotating through EMS training at Station 22.

Battalion 5: Crews completed third quarter EMS Training at Station 22.

6:19 p.m. – Engine 28, Grass 27, Water Tender 27 and BC5 responded to reports of a vehicle and grass fire on 26-Mile Road. E28 arrived on scene and quickly contained the fire to the vehicle and a small area of grass.

 

SATURDAY, JULY 27

Battalion 2: Stanislaus Companies began rotating through EMS training at Station 22 today.

Engine 26 conducted training with Water Rescue 26.

Battalion 5: Crews attended third quarter EMS training at Station 22.

2:31 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 26, BC5, Oak Valley Ambulance, PHI Air Ambulance, Cal Star Air Ambulance and Stanislaus Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Woodward Reservoir for reports of a jet ski collision. Crews arrived on scene and treated two juvenile patients. One was transported by ground ambulance and one by air. Sheriff’s Deputies reported the injured parties were struck by a jet ski in a hit and run with one arrest made later.

 

FRIDAY, JULY 26

Battalion 5: 1119hrs: E9, E29, E21, E23, E24, E26, T5, q22 and BC5 were dispatched to reports of a structure fire at an apartment complex on Polar St in Oakdale. Crew arrived on scene and found a small fire burning on the balcony of a second-floor unit. E9 was able to extinguish the fire and keep it isolated to the balcony.

305hrs: E28, E27 and BC5 were dispatched to a vehicle accident on Lon Dale and Valley Home Rd. Two cars were involved, and two occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

 

THURSDAY, JULY 25

Battalion 2: Some crews were able to participate in the 2024 Safety Stand Down.

Battalion 5: 12:25 p.m. – B28, G29, G27, WT27, E26, E6, WT6 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a vegetation fire on Carmel Court in Oakdale. BC5 arrived on scene and had a fast-moving grass fire burning in dry grass and brush in between several houses. Crews were able to stop the fire from reaching any structures and contained the fire at just over one acre.

12:33 p.m. – Battalion 2, Engines 7, 9, and Engine 1-2 from Escalon Fire District responded to a vehicle accident on Lon Dale at Pioneer Avenue. BC2 was the first to arrive with Oak Valley Ambulance, who advised them that they had two minor injuries. The Escalon engine arrived and assisted with clean up; the remaining engines were canceled.

7:04 p.m. – G27, WT27, E28, B24, G29, G3, G15, G19, B12 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a vegetation fire on the river bottom off Highway 108 and Brady Road. Upon arrival crews initially had an acre of heavy brush and large trees burning. Shortly thereafter several more fires were started further west along the river and more resources were called in to assist. The fires were contained, and crews were overhauling the scene late into the night.

 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 24

Battalion 2: The Battalion has taken delivery of a new FIU vehicle.

Station 26 trained on ground ladders.

Battalion 5: Crews completed the Safety Stand Down training that consisted of recent incident reviews along with fireground procedures.

4:36 p.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident with injuries at Smith Road and Claribel Road. Upon arrival there were two vehicles involved with Oak Valley Ambulance on scene. Fire units were cancelled due to there being one patient with minor injuries that was being treated by Oak Valley.

 

TUESDAY, JULY 23

Personnel continue to assist with the fires statewide as part of overhead assignments.

Battalion 2: Crews participated in the 2024 Summer Safety Stand Down.

Battalion 5: 1:35 a.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident at Highway 108 and Crickets Corner. Engine 28 arrived on scene with one vehicle on its roof off the Highway. Engine 28 had one patient with minor injuries and cancelled the responding balance.
