The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 19 through Monday, March 25. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MARCH 25

Battalion 2: All companies in Battalion 2 participated in hose evolutions.

Battalion 5: Crews completed Monday apparatus and equipment checks.

Crews trained with probationary firefighters on various skill sets.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 24

Battalion 2: Engine 26 trained at the company level on ladders and RIC pack.

Battalion 5: Crews performed weekend station maintenance.

Company level training was conducted.

Battalion Chief 5 attended battalion drills at Stations 17 and 22.

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 23

Battalion 5: Truck 5, Engine 28, and Engine 29 conducted training on rope rescue.

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 22

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Companies trained on ropes and knots and salvage operations.

10:11 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion 5 to Valley Home Road and River Road for a vehicle accident. Crews arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle accident blocking the roadway. Three patients were found and treated by Firefighter/Paramedics for minor to moderate injuries and transported to local hospitals. One Firefighter/Paramedic held treatment on the moderate patient and rode in with the patient. CHP is investigating.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 21

MST companies rotated through Station 17 to participate in this quarter’s battalion training. Main topic was MCI/MASS incidents with a focus on Triage and setting up the ICS.

Battalion 5: Modesto Engine 27’s crew conducted company level training.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20

Battalion 5: Crews rotated through driver training at Fire Station 17.

4:33 p.m. – Modesto Engine 29, Engine 28, one engine from CalFire, and BC5 responded to a vehicle fire in the 15000 block of Sonora Road. Engine 29 arrived on scene of an orchard sweeper fully involved in an almond orchard. Engine 29 extinguished the fire, and the responding balance was cancelled.

 

TUESDAY, MARCH 19

Battalion 2: Crews met at Station 17 for the first round of driver training.

Battalion 5: Crews rotated through annual driver training at Station 17.
