Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 3-26-25

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 18 through Monday, March 24. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MARCH 24

The MST Firefighter Academy continued with training at the Regional Fire Training Center.

Battalion 2: Companies completed apparatus maintenance across Battalion 2.

Battalion 5: Engine 29 had a station visit from Cub Scout Pack 365. The crew gave them a tour of Station 29 and showed them what a day in the life of a firefighter entails.

2:01 p.m. – Engine 29, Engine 26 and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident on Highway 108 and Wamble Road. One patient was treated for minor injuries.

5:40 p.m. – Engine 27 responded to a delivery truck that backed into a fire hydrant on School Avenue in Oakdale. Engine 27 arrived on scene and turned off the hydrant using their water key tool.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 23

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine 26 trained on engine company operations.

1:11 p.m. – Engine 26 responded to the 3600 block of Texas Avenue in Riverbank for a leaking propane tank. Engine 26 located a large propane tank that was leaking from the relief valve in the backyard of a residence. Crew members moved the leaking tank to a safe location and informed the family members how to get the tank repaired.

Battalion 5: Crews performed daily apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.

Engine 27 pre-fire planned multiple apartment complexes in the City of Oakdale and practiced hose estimation and stretches. Crews also reviewed the department RIC policy and RIC bag operations.

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 22

Battalion 2: 9:16 a.m. – Engine 26 responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Eighth Street and Patterson Road. One patient with minor injuries was transported to Memorial Medical Center.

Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Battalion 5: E7 conducted company level training that focused on forcible entry and second floor fire attack.

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 21

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Engine 27, 28 and 29 trained on SCBA use, primary search and RIC deployment.

6:13 p.m. – Engine 7, Engine 26, Truck 5 and Battalion 5 to Cottage Cove Drive for a potential structure fire, possible natural gas leak inside. Crews arrived on scene and searched the residence with four gas meters. No signs of natural gas were found. Crews remained on scene ventilating the structure.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 20

Battalion 2: Stanislaus stations worked on yards and station exterior during this shift completing spring cleaning.

Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Crews trained on hose pulls and pumping evolutions.

Battalion 5 participated in a walk-through of the Gallo Spirits Division.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19

Modesto Fire Explorers and advisors continue training evolutions at the California State Fire Explorer Academy.

Battalion 2: Crews completed apparatus maintenance across Battalion 2 today.

Battalion 5: 6:01 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Engine 23 and BC5 responded to a two-car accident on Lon Dale Road in Oakdale. Crews arrived to find a white van that had clipped the right rear area of another car and veered off the road. Based on witness statements it appeared the driver of the van possibly had a medical emergency that led to the crash. The driver of the van was transported to a local hospital.

 

TUESDAY, MARCH 18

The MST Firefighter Academy continued with training (EMS Skills) at Fire Station 17.

MST Command Staff provided C Shift crews with a monthly briefing.

MST personnel were recognized for their response to the Los Angeles Wildfires at the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Battalion 2: Firefighters conducted a walkthrough of Gallo Spirits.

Battalion 5: Engine 27’s crew trained on rope rescue systems at Station 27.

2:38 p.m. – Engine 26, Engine 7 and BC5 responded to assist the Escalon Fire Department on a working structure fire. Crews arrived on scene to help with a fire that started in a kitchen and had extended into the attic space. The fire was quickly contained, and MST units were released shortly thereafter.
