The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 14 through Monday, March 20. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
MONDAY, MARCH 20
On-Duty medics rotated through PHI at Modesto airport to train on new video airway devices.
Battalion 2: Monday equipment checks and training in local areas.
Battalion 5: Weekly apparatus checks were completed.
SUNDAY, MARCH 19
Battalion 5: Crews conducted company level training, apparatus checks, and station maintenance.
SATURDAY, MARCH 18
Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training.
Companies rotated through RFTC for PPE sizing.
BC5 managed resources and provided coverage during draw down in Battalion 1.
FRIDAY, MARCH 17
Battalion 2: Crews completed company training.
Battalion 5: Engine 27 attended a career day at Magnolia Elementary School on Oakdale.
5:45 p.m. – Engine 27 and Battalion 5 responded for the report of motorcycle into a house. Crews arrived to find a motorcycle that lost control and struck a residence at a high rate of speed. One subject was pronounced deceased on scene and the incident was turned over to the Oakdale Police Department. Engine 27 assisted OPD later in the evening with their investigation.
THURSDAY, MARCH 16
Battalion 2: E23/WT23, E24, E26 met at Station 24 for Water Tender training/signoffs and Q22 prepared for seven-month testing.
Battalion 5: MST units conducted equipment checks and station maintenance.
MST unit E28 attended a public education at Oakdale High School fire science class.
9:48 a.m. – MST units responded to an accident at the corner of Terminal Avenue and Plainview Road. E9 arrived and reported two vehicles involved blocking the roadway. E9 reported four patients with minor injuries. E9 requested three ambulances. E21 arrived and assisted with patient care. All patients were transferred to local hospitals. CHP investigating.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15
MCS company officers participated in report writing training.
MCS companies participated in quarterly engineer training at the RFTC focusing on standpipe operations.
Battalion 2: E26 assisted a 101-year-old Riverbank resident with installing new smoke detectors.
Battalion 5: MST units conducted in house training.
MST units participated in drivers quarterly training at the RFTC.
3:42 p.m. – MST units responded to an EMS/CPR call in the 5600 block of River Road.
TUESDAY, MARCH 14
Battalion 2: Hose testing was completed at Station 26 for all hose and apparatus.
Crews responded to several storm-related calls.
Battalion 5: Crews responded to multiple wires down calls and trees down calls throughout Oakdale and Knights Ferry.
