Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 11-13-24

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Nov. 5 through Monday, Nov. 11. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, NOV. 11

Battalion 2: 9:58 p.m. – Engine 24, Engine 23, 4456, and BC2 responded to Highway 132 east of La Grange for a vehicle accident. Two were treated for minor injuries. CHP investigating.

Battalion 5: Engine 27 participated in the Oakdale Veterans Day Parade and ceremony at Fish Park.

E26’s Captain McDaniel sat in at SR911 dispatch HQ, completing one of his captain’s task book qualifications.

 

SUNDAY, NOV. 10

Companies from all five battalions participated in a multi-company drill at the RFTC focusing on above ground fires, victim and firefighter rescues.

Battalion 2: Crews completed daily equipment and apparatus checks.

6:37 p.m. – Engine 23, Engine 24, Quint 22, and Battalion 2 responded to a vehicle accident on Albers Road and Milnes Road. Upon arrival, Engine 23 found one vehicle on its side, entangled in communication wires. One patient was extricated and transported by ground ambulance to a local trauma center.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 crews performed company level training and caught up on vector solution assignments.

6:17 p.m. – Engine 26, E27, E28 and BC5 responded to a report of a head on collision between two vehicles on Highway 108 and Snedigar Road. Crews arrived at scene and found a work van that had hit a large pickup truck. The driver of the work van was pinned in the vehicle and medics on scene declared the driver deceased from the crash. The driver of the pickup sustained a broken wrist. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the California Highway patrol.

11:33 p.m. – Engine 26 and BC5 responded to a report of a shooting in the 6000 block of Howard Avenue in Riverbank. Crews were cleared in by law enforcement and found a patient shot multiple times in the upstairs hallway of the residence. The patient was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

 

SATURDAY, NOV. 9

Battalion Chief Serpa and OES strike team 4828A remained assigned to the Mountain Fire in Ventura County.

Battalion 2: Crews completed daily equipment and apparatus checks.

5:02 p.m. – Engine 7, Engine 26, Quint 22, and Battalion 5 responded to a report of a vehicle into a ditch in the area of Terminal Avenue and Claus Road. One patient was flown out by Cal Star to an area hospital.

Battalion 5: Crews attended quarterly drivers training.

3:55 p.m. – Brush 28, Brush 24, Grass 26, Engine 27, and BC5 responded for a vegetation fire on River Road. On scene crews found a small debris and vegetation fire behind a residence. Brush 28 and Engine 27 were able to quickly contain the fire. All other units cancelled.

9:49 p.m. – Engine 28 responded for a person passed out. On scene they had a patient who was pulseless and not breathing. Engine 28 provided ALS and obtained ROSC in 17 minutes. Engine 28 maintained patient care and transport to a local hospital.

 

FRIDAY, NOV. 8

Battalion 2: Crews completed daily equipment and apparatus checks.

Battalion 5: Crews performed apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Companies conducted training in their respective FMA’s.

1:28 p.m. – Engine 27 responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of West F Street and Lee Avenue. Engine 27 arrived on scene of a two-vehicle accident with one patient who suffered minor injuries. The patient was transported by Oak Valley ambulance for further care.

 

THURSDAY, NOV. 7

Annual hose testing was conducted at Regional Fire Training Center.

Battalion 2: Engine 24, Engine 26, and Quint 22 attended drivers training at RFTC.

Stanislaus Consolidated Apparatus committee members inspected the new engine being built at Hi Tech. The new engine is expected to be complete in March.

Battalion 5: Engine 3, Engine 27 and BC1 assisted the OHS Fire Science Class with training/orientation.

Crews attended Haz Mat Team training at Turlock Fairgrounds for Chemical Safety Day.

Engine 28 assisted law enforcement with accessing a safe.

Crews participated in the MFD Monthly Briefing from the Fire Chief.

 

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 6

Battalion 2: Companies conducted hose testing at the Regional Fire Training Center.

Battalion 5: Crews participated in company level training and completing annual signoffs.

Companies completed weekly apparatus and equipment checks on auxiliary apparatus.

10:41 a.m. – Brush 28, Engine and Water Tender 27 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to Highway 120 and Crackerbox for a grass fire. Battalion 5 reported a small 10 x 10 roadside grass fire. Brush 28 mitigated the incident. Engine & Water Tender 27 were canceled.

7:46 p.m. – Grass 29, Brush 28 and Battalion 5 along with a Cal Fire response were dispatched to the 15000 block of 28 Mile Road for a grass fire. After making access, the fire was reported to be two acres and surrounded by orchard. The fire had almost burnt itself out. Cal Fire resources remained on scene and all Modesto resources were released.

 

TUESDAY, NOV. 5

Chief officers within the MST organization participated in a meeting held at fire admin.

Companies continued to rotate through the RFTC for quarterly driver training. The Training Division focused on in-service training for new Brush 1 and Brush 28 as well as OES 4118 and 4615.

Battalion 2: Crews conducted company level training.

Crews completed annual hose and ladder testing.

Battalion 5: Crews performed daily apparatus checks and station maintenance along with conducting FMA training in their respective areas.

Crews completed outstanding Target Solution assignments.
