Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 10-04-23

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Sept. 26 through Monday, Oct. 2. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, OCT. 2

Battalion 2: Engine 26 and Engine 21 trained on Para Tech shoring.

Engine 24 attended Career Day at Waterford High School.

Battalion 5: Crews performed weekly checks of apparatus.

Battalion 5 assisted at Oakdale High School fire science class.

Battalion 5 attended the Oakdale City Council meeting.

 

SUNDAY, OCT. 1

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 and Engine 27 participated in training at the RFTC.

Engines 28, 27, 26 and BC5 responded to Highway 108/120 east of Lancaster for an overturned vehicle. On scene crews found one person with minor injuries. E27 assisted Oak Valley with patient care and traffic control. All other resources cancelled.

 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 30

Battalion 2: 4:18 a.m. – Engine 26, SQ11 Truck 5 and Battalion 1 were dispatched to the 2700 block of Claribel Road for a vehicle accident with entrapment. Battalion 1 arrived and reported a single vehicle rollover with S.O. at scene. All occupants had fled the scene and the balance was canceled. CHP investigating.

Training continued with Q22, E23 and E26 on the para tech rescue struts.

After a public assist E26 found there were access issues at the residence. The crew offered, if the resident obtained a lock box, they would help install. Today they completed the task.

E26 attended a neighborhood BBQ in Riverbank.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks, along with station maintenance.

Crews trained on seven-month test preparation, including hose and SCBA evolutions.

1034 a.m. – Engine 27 responded to Langworth and Claribel for a pole down. Firefighters arrived on scene with a power pole that had been hit and severed, with a power line close to the ground. Crews stood by until PG&E arrived and secured the power.

8:13 p.m. – Engines 27, 28, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 to Pedersen for a potential structure fire, natural gas leak inside the residence. Firefighters arrived on scene and after investigating, found a gas outlet for a dryer had been knocked open. Crews secured the valve and ventilated the structure. PG&E arrived on scene and confirmed the leak was stopped.

 

FRIDAY, SEPT. 29

Interim Fire Chief Wise presented the shift with a department update.

Battalion 2: 8:24 a.m. – Engine 23, E9 and BC5 responded to the report of a vehicle accident at Dusty and Albers. On arrival four vehicles were involved, one delayed patient was transported, the rest of the involved parties all refused treatment.

SCFPD congratulates FF Tobin, FF Tamburrino and FF Teixeira for successfully completing their probation.

Station 22 and 23 trained with para tech rescue equipment.

Station 23 and 24 trained with the Rapid Attack Monitor master stream device.

Battalion 5: Station 28 crews continued boat training at Woodward Reservoir.

Squad 11 met with officials from the Oakdale Irrigation District in preparation for the upcoming trench rescue training.

 

THURSDAY, SEPT. 28

Battalion 5: 3:25 a.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, and BC5 responded to a report of a vegetation fire at Highway 108 and Atlas Road. Engine 28 arrived on-scene of a small vegetation fire around a power pole and quickly extinguished the fire. PG&E was requested to the scene and the responding balance was cancelled.

11:25 a.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, Truck 5, and BC5 were dispatched to a vehicle accident with pin-in at the intersection of West F Street and Crane Road involving an ambulance. Crews arrived on-scene of a two-vehicle collision with an overturned ambulance. There were three immediate patients and two delayed patients totaling five patients. One patient was extricated from the ambulance while all others had self-extricated. An MCI (mass casualty incident) was declared, and five ground ambulances transported the patients to local hospitals. Additionally, Stanislaus Consolidated Engine 26 was requested to assist with patient care.

2:27 p.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, and BC5 were dispatched to a vehicle accident involving harvesting equipment in the 12000 block of Pioneer Avenue in the community of Valley Home. Crews arrived on-scene of a patient who had gotten their hand stuck in the conveyer belt of almond harvesting equipment. The patient’s hand was free from the equipment upon arrival and was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 27

Battalion 2: 3:45 a.m. – Engine 26, Truck 5, and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident at the lumber yard located on Callander near Santa Fe, Riverbank. Engine 26 found the vehicle in the lumber yard with the driver GOA, gone on arrival.

Battalion 5: Crews conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.
