Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 1-1-25

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Sunday, Dec. 29. Due to earlier deadlines for the New Year’s holiday, the Monday, Dec. 30 call log was not available at press time. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

SUNDAY, DEC. 29

Battalion 2: Crews completed daily equipment and apparatus checks.

Crews conducted company training.

Battalion 5: Crews completed end of the year training assignments.

Station 27 had visitors come by for a station tour to as a part of a boy’s ninth birthday party. Fun was had by all.

Engine 29 and BC5 responded to a report of a subject that overdosed on West F Street in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene and found the patient not breathing. The patient was administered NARCAN and was revived. The patient was transported to hospital in Modesto.

 

SATURDAY, DEC. 28

Battalion 2: Crews completed daily equipment and apparatus checks.

Crews conducted company training.

Battalion 5: Crews completed end of the year training assignments.

Crews conducted Saturday station maintenance.

3:44 p.m. – Engine 27 and BC5 responded to a report of an older female that was bucked off of a horse and suffered a seizure upon hitting the ground on Wellsford Road in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene and stabilized the patient. The patient was trauma alerted and transported to a hospital in Modesto.

 

FRIDAY, DEC. 27

Battalion 2: With the end of fire season, the crews have winterized all the small engines on all wildland apparatus. Fuel and bar oil have been drained from saws and pumps to help keep them from degrading in the off-season.

Battalion 5: 5:05 p.m. – Engine 24, Engine 28, and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident with injuries at Albers Road and Milnes Road. Engine 24 arrived on scene with two vehicles involved and checked on injuries. There was a total of two patients with minor injuries and the responding balance was cancelled.

While Engine 27 was returning from a call they came across a non-injury vehicle accident involving a vehicle vs. fire hydrant at West F Street and North Bryan Avenue in Oakdale. Engine 27’s crew was able to isolate the water valve that was supplying the fire hydrant to stop the water flow. Oakdale Public Works was notified and responded to make repairs

 

THURSDAY, DEC. 26

Battalion 2: Engines 3, 9, 21,23,24,27, and Quint 22 participated in a tailboard critique of fire from the last tour. The fire was unusual because it was commercial in a rural setting. The discussion covered rural water supply and the challenges faced with long turnaround times for water tenders and high volumes of water being needed.

Battalion 5: Engine 9 and Engine 27 attended an After-Action Review at Station 22 for the structure fire on Indiana Avenue last week in Station 23’s FMA.

12:44 a.m. – Engines 24, 29, and 4456 responded to a four-vehicle accident in Station 25/29’s area.

 

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 25

Battalion 2: Stanislaus Companies enjoyed the holiday with family and friends.

5:49 p.m. – Engine 24, Engine 23, and BC2 responded to a vehicle accident on North Reinway in Waterford. One patient was treated for chest pain. Sheriff’s Office investigating.

Battalion 5: Crews completed end of the year reports and training tasks.

Daily apparatus and equipment checks were completed.

Stations had family and neighbors stop in and out to say hello and share well wishes and treats for the crews working Christmas Day.

 

TUESDAY, DEC. 24

Battalion 2: Crews celebrated the holidays with families and friends at their stations.

3:43 p.m. – Engines 7, 26, Truck 5, and BC 2 responded to a potential structure fire in the 2400 block of Gallery Drive in Riverbank. Engine 7 was the first to arrive and found an overheated outlet. There was no extension into the wall, and the balance of the response was canceled.

3:54 p.m. – Engine 9, Quint 22 and BC1 responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at Milnes and Langworth Road. Engine 9 arrived to find three vehicles involved with one vehicle on fire. Crews quickly contained the fire and treated several minor injuries. CHP is investigating.

Battalion 5: Crews completed end of the year reports and training tasks.

Daily apparatus and equipment checks were completed.

8:26 p.m. – Engine 26, Engine 7, Quint 22, and BC 5 responded to the 2900 block of Ward Avenue in Riverbank for a potential structure fire with reports of smoke inside the residence. Engine 26 located a smoking wall outlet. Engine 26 cancelled the balance of the response.
