The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 28 through Monday, April 3. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, APRIL 3

No call log available.

 

SUNDAY, APRIL 2

Battalion 2: B shift crews rotated through a commercial structure fire scenario at the vacant Del Rio Restaurant building in Riverbank.

11:57 a.m. – E23, Q22 and BC5 responded to the report of a vehicle accident on Albers just north of Dry Creek. On arrival two vehicles were found with one patient complaining of neck pain. E23 and Oak Valley Ambulance took care of patient care, the balance was cancelled.

Battalion 5: MST units conducted equipment checks and station maintenance.

MST units conducted in house training.

6:42 p.m. – MST units responded to a vehicle accident at Albers and Claribel roads. E23 arrived and reported two vehicles off the road with one minor injury. E23 canceled incoming units.

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 1

Crews conducted probationary training at Station 17 focusing on ventilation techniques.

Battalion 5: Modesto Engine 29 gave the public tours of the Engine during the Annual Knights Ferry Car Show.

9:32 a.m. – Modesto E27, E28, E29, and BC5 responded to a report of a head on vehicle accident with pin-in at the intersection of Highway 108 and Wamble Road. Crews arrived on scene with two vehicles involved blocking the westbound lane of Highway 108. All involved occupants of the vehicles were out upon arrival with only one suffering from minor injuries. One patient was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital and air ambulance was canceled.

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 31

Battalion 5: 12:02 p.m. – Stanislaus Engine 26, Quint 22, Modesto Engine 7, and BC5 responded to a natural gas leak inside a residence in the 6200 block of Central Avenue in Riverbank. Upon arrival crews checked the interior of the residence with a 4-gas monitor and had negative results. Crews did however find a cut water line that had flooded the first floor of the unoccupied home in a new housing development. The housing developer was on scene, and the property was turned back over to them after the residence was checked.

Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, and BC5 conducted company officer training covering on scene reports and assignments at structure and vegetation fires.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 30

Battalion 2: Firefighter Houck (Engine 26) successfully completed the MST seven-month probationary testing process.

Battalion 5: Crews completed maintenance at Fire Station 30.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29

Battalion 5: 9:36 a.m. – Engine 5, 26, Truck 1 and BC5 responded for smoke in a commercial building. On scene crews found and isolated a problem with an HVAC unit.

 

TUESDAY, MARCH 28

Battalion 2: Probationary firefighter Tobin successfully completed his seven-month test.

Commercial fire drill was held at Del Rio Restaurant in Riverbank.

Battalion 5: MST units conducted equipment checks and station maintenance.

4:06 p.m. – MST units responded to a working structure fire in the 9900 block of Mountain Oak Road. E28 arrived and reported a chimney on fire. MST units extinguished fire and checked for extension into the building. MST units salvaged two rooms and reported minimal extension into the attic. FIU investigating.

11:18 p.m. – MST units responded to a commercial fire in the 400 block of East F Street. E28 arrived and reported an electrical outlet sparking. E28 secured the outlet at the sub panel and canceled the incoming units.
