The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Feb. 7 through Monday, Feb. 13. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
SUNDAY, FEB. 12
Battalion 5: Crews conducted company level training and equipment checks.
232 p.m. – Modesto E7, E27, E28, Stanislaus E23, E26, Q22, BC2, BC5, and FIU responded to a report of a working structure fire in the 100 block of Brownwood Lane in Oakdale. E27 arrived on scene with light smoke showing from the chimney and operated in the investigation mode. E27 and E28 confirmed that the chimney fire had been extinguished with negative extension. The remaining balance was cancelled.
SATURDAY, FEB. 11
Crews participated in Battalion drills at Station 17. Crews worked on tactics and strategies as they relate to commercial fires.
FRIDAY, FEB. 10
Battalion 2: Crews completed engine company training.
Battalion 5: Battalion 5 companies attended Quarterly EMS Training.
Engine 27 conducted probationary firefighter training.
THURSDAY, FEB. 9
Battalion 5: Companies attended Quarterly EMS Training at Fire Station 17.
Engine 27 conducted probationary firefighter training.
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 8
MST companies participated in first quarter EMS training at Station 17. Training focused on EMT expanded scope and monitor orientation as well as ALS skills.
The CVIMT conducted an after actions training at the Oakdale Community Center.
Crews completed weekly apparatus and equipment checks on auxiliary apparatus.
Battalion 2: E26 trained on forcible entry at Station 17.
Battalion 5: 10:55a.m. – Crews responded to an EMS CPR call in the 900 block of Terrace. One deceased; Oakdale Police Department also advised.
1:54 p.m. – Engine 27, 26, Truck 5 and Battalion 3 responded to Lon Dale for a potential structure fire. Crews arrived on scene with a small fire in a utility room that was out. Firefighters provided medical care to one patient with smoke inhalation. That person was transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Crews remained on scene ventilating the structure.
3:58 a.m. – MST units responded to a working structure fire in the 1500 block of Lando Drive. E28 arrived and reported one story residence with a burnt-up bathroom exhaust fan. E28 and E27 remained on scene to secure exhaust fan. The remaining units were canceled.
TUESDAY, FEB. 7
Battalion 2: 4:39 p.m. – A full commercial fire response was sent to the 2200 block of Patterson Road in Riverbank for a fire reported in the business. A small fire comprised of grease buildup was burning behind the fryer. The unit was moved, and the fire was put out, one additional engine was kept, the balance cancelled.
Battalion 5: MST units conducted equipment checks and station maintenance.
MST units attended quarterly EMS training at Station 17.
