The Oakdale High School Theater Program has returned for the 2024-2025 school year with their spring show Mean Girls. Opening night is just around the corner, with shows on Fridays, April 4 and 11; Saturdays, April 5 and 12 at 7 p.m.; Sundays, April 6 and 13 at 2 p.m.

“For this show we are so lucky to have Colleen Hawks-Pierce as Director and Jeff Pierce as Assistant Director. They have brought a level of professionalism and dedication to this show that would not have been possible without them,” said Director of the Oakdale High School Theatre program/production manager Lezlie Acker. “This hard-working cast, crew, and I all appreciate all that they have given to help us succeed.”

Online tickets can be purchased for $12 at the Oakdale High School website.

Guest Director Colleen Hawks-Pierce, commented, “I first saw Mean Girls the musical on Broadway, and a good friend was playing Ms. Norbury, the Tina Fey role. At the time I was the Artistic Director for a youth theatre in Manhattan and thought it would make a fantastic show for my teens to do.

“Fast forward several years and here I am back in Oakdale where I grew up. I’m so glad to be directing it with Oakdale High’s talented group of actors. I believe this story to be authentic and thought provoking. How do we perceive ourselves and how do we present ourselves to others in our quest to “fit in?” In the end, staying true to ourselves and being generous, tolerant, and kind to others is the ongoing message of this piece. It doesn’t hurt that it has fabulous music and a very smart script.”

All are encouraged to join in to watch this female high school drama. After being homeschooled her whole life, the protagonist is thrown into High School life, a mix of bullying, social cliques, and … music.

Mean Girls is PG-13 and contains some language and depictions of teenage parties; may not be appropriate for all audiences.
