Another iconic Oakdale event is being postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
In light of Governor Newsom's Stay-at-Home order that went into effect Thursday, March 19, the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce has made the decision to postpone the Oakdale Chocolate Festival to maintain the safety of its staff, volunteers, and community as a whole.
The new date for the rescheduled Oakdale Chocolate Festival is Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12 and 13, 2020 in Downtown Oakdale. That date also is dependent solely on the state of affairs regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
President of the Oakdale Chamber Ed Viohl stated, “Everyone needs to do their part to slow the spread of this pandemic. Safety is our number one priority and the Oakdale Chamber wants to do our part keeping with local and CDC guidelines.”
Event Coordinator Desa Cammack stated, “We want what’s best for everyone, and I know the local service groups and vendors we work with are happy about us postponing this event and not cancelling. It is a source of revenue for them, one that they are going without these next few months.”
