Modesto Junior College and California State University, Stanislaus are signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create a clear path for MJC students to earn their undergraduate degree. The “Warriors on the Way” (WOW) agreement will be signed at a ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, March 5 at 10 a.m. at the Student Center on MJC’s East Campus. The community is invited to attend.
The new MOU promotes MJC’s associate degrees for transfer (ADTs) through the WOW program. It symbolizes a renewing of the two colleges’ commitment to work together to smooth the way for MJC students to transfer to Stan State for completion of their undergraduate degrees.
As part of this strengthened partnership, MJC has designated space in the college’s Transfer Center to house a Stan State academic advisor who will be available at MJC up to 40 hours per week.
“MJC is thrilled to sign this MOU with Stanislaus State,” said MJC Interim President Steve Collins. “We are constantly seeking ways to help our students succeed, and having ready access to a Stan State academic advisor on the MJC campus makes it simpler to have their questions answered and easier for them to transfer. We are committed to providing a well-educated workforce for our business community, and this fortified partnership with Stan State is a pivotal step toward that goal. We look forward to seeing more Pirates becoming ‘Warriors on the Way’.”
Future plans include encouraging additional conversations on curriculum between the faculties of the two institutions to ensure articulation of relevant courses.
“Stanislaus State is committed to ensuring Modesto Junior College students, and all students in our six-county region, are able to continue their pursuit of higher education,” said Stanislaus State President Ellen Junn. “This agreement solidifies and strengthens our current partnership by making the process of transferring as simple and streamlined as possible.”
