National Day of Observance
Closed sign

A National Day of Observance has been declared to honor the passing of former President, Jimmy Carter, providing for the closure of federal government agencies, and that will impact mail service.

On Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, the Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries and retail services; all offices will be closed. However, the USPS has indicated that limited package delivery service will still be available.

This observance applies to all Postal Service facilities, including Headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as area and district administrative offices.

Regular postal service operations will resume on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025.
