If you are interested in becoming a ‘Master Gardener’ you can sign up for training that is due in January, 2022.
Submit your application by Tuesday, Aug. 31; read more about the training and volunteer opportunity at http://ucanr.edu/2021/apply/mg
Training is provided through the University of California Cooperative Extension, UCCE, and those trained as master gardeners go on to volunteer in a variety of ways, such as encouraging healthy environments with sustainable gardening, green waste reduction and water conservation.
Also, those interested can also sign up now for a free, fun, in person class to learn gardening basics, offered through the UCCE Master Gardener Program. The Fall Vegetable Gardening Class is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Stanislaus County Ag Center, Harvest Hall Rooms D and E, 3800 Cornucopia Way, Modesto. Sign up online at http://ucanr.edu/fallvegs/2022 or call Misael Canales at 209-525-6804 to reserve your space. Registered participants will receive free seed packets to get their vegetable gardens started. A handout will also be provided so those attending the class can follow along with the instructors.
