Saturday Parade Kicks Off Rodeo Weekend
0416 OCGC
Oakdale Community Garden Club members enjoyed a leisurely ride on their colorful float.

The final event in nearly a week of festivities before the start of the actual rodeo, Saturday morning’s parade along F Street through downtown Oakdale draws dozens of entries and hundreds of participants.

Dance troupes, 4-H clubs, community service organizations, bands, businesses – all joined in to provide a nearly 90-minute parade that started with the Oakdale Saddle Club behind the ‘pace’ police cruiser, and wrapped up with the city street sweeper, freshening up after plenty of equine entries high stepped their way along the route.

Shown are photos from the parade, which enjoyed cool temperatures and plenty of sunshine before giving way to upper 70s and low 80s for competition in the rodeo arena.
