Oakdale Police arrested a registered sex offender last week who was witnessed exposing himself in the parking lot near the Oakdale Public Library on South First Avenue.

Oakdale Police Public Information Officer Janeen Yates said police were called on Tuesday, Jan 17 around 4 p.m. by a female witness who reported a man exposing his genitalia through the zipper opening of his trousers. The woman also reported that several juveniles were present when the act occurred.

Police stated the woman used her phone to take a photo of the subject to assist in identification.

Oakdale Police officers Rocky Anderson and Mike Walsh recognized the man in the picture as Anthony George Wagner, 31, a registered sex offender from Oakdale.

A probable cause warrant was issued for Wagner alleging indecent exposure and on Thursday, Jan 19, at 9:40 a.m. Officer Sam Gallego spotted Wagner walking on the 400 block of North Fifth Avenue. Officer Gallego arrested Wagner and booked him into Stanislaus County Jail where he is currently being held on $100,000 bail.

A records check with Stanislaus Superior Court shows Wagner served 100 days in jail last year for a conviction on the same charge and was released on probation in December.
