Your reporter was looking out the kitchen window enjoying the morning cup of coffee when something caught my eye in Jim Rotelli’s pasture. Thought it was a yellow dog until it turned sideways. It was a mountain lion! It was just ambling along, looking around. The dogs were inside so I put on my slippers but by the time I got outside it was in the berries and gone. I couldn’t believe it, just as plain as day walking so close to our place. Now I watch outside every moment I get, knowing that I will not see it again. Shavon Haskell said she saw one also, so did people on Horseshoe Road. I guess it is after the deer around here.

Tomorrow night at 7 p.m. is the MAC meeting at the clubhouse. They did not meet in November and December because the meeting dates fell on the holidays. The meeting is open to the public so come see our town government in action.

The seventh and eighth grades at Knights Ferry School made muffins last Friday. Teacher Randy Russell said it was a lesson in following directions and changing proportions. The students worked in groups with a copy of the directions and had to do it all without any teacher help. Some muffins were tasty and some were not.

Carol Davis had grandsons Trent and Connor Davis over for a few days while they were on break from college. Carol said she cooked and they ate!

Rhiannon Hawthorn, granddaughter of Ken and Linda Morris, celebrated her 13th birthday at the 50’s Roadhouse with a surprise balloon bouquet and cake for all.

Great Valley Museum came to the first and second grades at KFS and did a workshop on Phases of Matter. The students sorted objects, solid and liquid and then changed them to gas or liquid or solid. It was a great learning experience.

At the History and Museum Associates meeting the upcoming Peddlers Faire on April 27th was discussed. Jim Vermuelen donated a nice picture of the old Cider House. It was on the Highway between Knights Ferry and Jamestown. It had cider and a small zoo with rattlesnakes (they milked them for their venom and paid one dollar for each snake brought to them.) The Ice Cream Parlor is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from noon to 5:00 p.m.

The first and second graders made harmonicas under the direction of bandleader Natalie Brockman. What a sound!
