The Knights Ferry Music Festival was a hit! The local music festival was full of local sounds including Alex Lucero, Tiffany Rose & the Outlaw Hearts, and Randy Mandy & the Frequency Experience. The bohemian atmosphere was complemented by good weather and the green grass was a perfect spot to put a blanket or chair. Randy and Mandy headed up the festival but not without the help of friends and local businesses.

Kay Martinelli orchestrated a birthday celebration for long-time Oakdale resident Vanetta Sipe by requesting people to send Vanetta birthday cards earlier this month. Vanetta Sipe turned 105 years old on June 2nd and received well over 300 cards in her mailbox! Cards were sent from classes from Sierra View and Magnolia and all the way from Australia! The excitement caught the eye of our Mayor, our California State Senator, Stanislaus County Supervisors, and the Oakdale City Council. It was quite a response and Kay was very pleased with the overwhelming response from the community.

Have you had a chance to go pick blueberries at our local blueberry patch? Blueberry season is very short so get out there as soon as you can. I picked five pounds and they are absolutely delicious. They are located at 15917 Sonora Road and a large flag with blueberries on it is visible on the street. I prefer to go in the morning, bring a friend or child to help pick, and bring my own large Tupperware containers. It is a fun and tasty way to get outside!

Coyotes have been causing a lot of chaos for Mary Sue Shearer and her flock of peacocks! Keep an extra eye on your animals. Rattlesnakes are also out and about in the area and they can be dangerous for both animals and humans, stay safe outdoors!
