Knights Ferry News 4-24-24

On April 9th, Mrs. Askland and her fourth grade class went to Sutter’s Fort for an overnight field trip. To prepare for the trip, the students sewed their own bags, scrunched paper to give their journals an antique look, and they had royal blue shirts with a gold wagon made for each student to wear. The kids participated in all typical activities of the 1800s including making stew and cinnamon rolls, and churning butter. They also made rope, candles, and did laundry. They toured a few different museums including the State Native American museum nearby. Ava Bonson enjoyed churning the butter and this was her first time using a sewing machine to make her bag!

Jason and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary last weekend in Aptos. It was nice to get away but it was even better to walk the dogs down to the Creamery for some ice cream when we got back!

The 31st Gold Country Peddler’s Faire is slated for Sunday, April 28th from 9am-4pm in the Army Corps river park along the Stanislaus River. There will be over 100 art/craft, collectible, and antique vendors and it is free admission! The Peddler’s Faire is a fundraiser that benefits the Knights Ferry Museum located atop the Knights Ferry Creamery. One important announcement is if you park in the Army Corps parking lot, the cost for parking will be $10. The parking fees are not determined by nor do they benefit the Knights Ferry Museum so please be kind to our volunteers in the area!
