The Odd Fellow Rebekahs prepared a delicious St. Patrick’s Day meal on Sunday. There were a lot of smiles when the raffle prizes were announced and the dessert was tasty!

The Civil War reenactments are coming to town this weekend! The reenactors usually start to set up camp on Friday and stay until Sunday. They bring authentic canvas tents, clothing, and artillery and many stay the night in the tents. I have attended years where the weather was extremely warm and the soldiers were marching boldly in wool jackets and then in other years, I’ve been laying in bed listening to the whistling wind, thunder cracking, sideways rain storms feeling so bad for the guys staying in canvas tents! Battle times are 1pm and 4pm on Saturday, March 22 and 11am and 2pm on Sunday, March 23. The reenactors invite the public to walk around the camps between the battles. They enjoy answering questions and talking about the Civil War. The reenactments are free to attend though they do ask for donations to help cover the cost of the powder for the canons and the guns. The parking in the Army Corp lot is $10 and paid to the Army Corp, it does not contribute to the local area.

Saturday night is the Community Club’s Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser from 5pm-8pm! Tickets are $10 and include dinner, dessert, and drink. A lot of the reenactors come over for dinner and even dance in the courtyard after dinner.

The Knights Ferry Car Show is April 5th from 10am-3pm. Enter your car or truck at www.knightsferrycommunityclub.com. If you are traveling through the area, expect delays from about 6am to 4pm due to traffic control on the narrow detour road. Large rigs such as motorhomes, truck and trailers are not advised because they cannot make a sharp turn on the detour.
