Another memorable Pumpkin Roll on Main Street Knights Ferry is in the books! There was an accident between Oakdale and Knights Ferry that caused a power outage in Knights Ferry from about 9am until 3:30pm but it did not discourage a large crowd of people attending the Pumpkin Roll. It was a sunny but windy day in town and emcees, Rick Feichter and Will Haskell-Kelly, managed to go through hundreds of pumpkin rollers on Main Street. Tracy Griesner and crew put on a great day of family fun in Knights Ferry. Tracy Griesner worked very hard to get the new trophies and measured the distance between the pumpkin and the line of each pumpkin that was a possible winner! John Pfefferle was selling the T-shirts outside of the Clubhouse while Megan Peterson managed the vendor booths inside and out on the tennis courts. Fred Dolling secured pumpkins donated from Perry and Sons market in Manteca. This year the pumpkins were gigantic! The Odd Fellows managed to feed about 350 people without electricity. The newest batch of Pumpkin Roll Champions of the World have been crowned for the 2024 year: married couple, Ole and Marie Skifter took home trophies for the men and women ages 62 and up, Emma Stevens and Vincent Peterson won for the young women and men ages 13-19 years old, and Audrey Cole and Eric Buckner won for the women and men ages 20-61 years old.
