We are nearing one of the busiest days in Knights Ferry! The 61st Pumpkin Roll is November 3rd on Main Street. There are few variations of how the Pumpkin Roll began in Knights Ferry but one of the more believable stories I have heard is that it began after a night of drinking in a bar in town and one of the patrons started playing with some of the leftover Halloween decorations; hence it is always the first Sunday after Halloween. If you have other stories of how it began, let me know and I’ll put it in next week’s article! There will be vendor booths available in and around the Community Club from 9am-3pm, the Odd Fellows Pancake Breakfast will be served starting at 8am, the Knights Ferry Museum located upstairs in the Miller’s Hall building will be open, and sign-ups for the Pumpkin Roll will begin at 10am and the small kids will begin rolling at 12pm. Donations to the Community Club are graciously accepted to roll a pumpkin as it is a Community Club fundraiser! Pro tip: bring cash to enter the Pumpkin Roll!
