With just about four months to go, the January kickoff for the 2025 Relay For Life of the Greater Central Valley is set for Thursday, Jan. 23.
The kickoff meeting will be hosted at Wellspring Anglican Church, 1548 Cummins Drive, Modesto, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
“Come join us for food, friends and fellowship,” said Event Chairperson Irene Cortez. “We’ve got some new event ideas to share.”
This year’s Relay For Life has changed its name and focus, to the Greater Central Valley, encompassing more counties beyond Stanislaus and San Joaquin, and looking to bring in more teams.
Theme is Carnival For A Cure and special guest speaker at the kickoff will be Janice Colombini.
There will also be a dinner available for $10, put on by the Two Hearts of Gold team, featuring two tostadas (bean and ground beef) with a side of rice.
The 24-hour Relay For Life, the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society, is scheduled from 9 a.m. Saturday, May 17 through 9 a.m. Sunday, May 18 on the campus of Johansen High School in Modesto.
All are welcome and encouraged to participate either by signing up with an existing team or getting together a team of your own.
