An accident north of Oakdale along Highway 120, near Crackerbox Road, has forced the closure of a portion of the roadway to both eastbound and westbound traffic.
A Modesto man driving a Toyota westbound on the highway, for an unknown reason, allowed his vehicle to drift into the eastbound lane, where it struck the front of an eastbound tractor trailer. Detours were set up around the site, according to Caltrans, while the investigation and clean up occurred.
The crash was reported to the CHP just before noon as a sedan vs. big rig and updates from the scene indicated there was major damage to the vehicles. There was also a reported spill of roughly 60 gallons of diesel fuel on the roadway.
Caltrans District 10 tweeted out the road closure alert just before 1 p.m.; indicating the closure affects both eastbound and westbound traffic, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes while the emergency response effort continues.
