The region is under a Red Flag Warning, issued for the Northern San Joaquin Valley in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties below 1000 feet.
The warning remains in effect through 4 p.m. Wednesday for gusty winds and low humidity; with a wind advisory also in effect for the region through 6 p.m. Wednesday.
North winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected. Strongest winds are expected across the Delta and the far western side of the Central Valley.
Daytime minimum humidity is forecast to be10 to 25 percent. Overnight maximum humidity 35 to 50 percent.
The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
