The Funky Market 209 is on the calendar for Saturday, June 4, being hosted at Kerr Park on North Stearns Road in Oakdale.
Offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., coordinator Lisa Norris said there will be live music, classic cars, over 70 vendors with a variety of items and the opportunity to benefit local day care centers.
Donations of new and used books, school supplies and art supplies are being sought to assist the local day cares, said Norris, while the day also promises to provide something for every shopper.
“We get vendors in from everywhere,” Norris noted of the market, ranging from locals such as Manteca, Hughson, Tracy and Modesto to as far away as Angels Camp and Valley Springs, all bringing their wares together for an eclectic mix of shopping possibilities.
As many small businesses still try to recover from the impacts of COVID-19, Norris said she has lowered her prices for vendors to participate, dropping them down by $15 per space.
“Because I would rather keep vendors than lose them,” she said of working to put on the market. “I want to continue to bring this fun event to the community.”
The upcoming Funky Market will also feature Sheri McAninch with Snaps by Mac.
“She’s a photographer that will have a unique set up for kids and adults to have their picture taken with cool props and Ariel as a character,” Norris explained. “She will be working alongside a balloon artist, April with Classic Princess Parties, she will be dressed as Ariel. We also have face painting, too, by Brenda with About Face.”
Scheduled to provide the musical entertainment are Candice Lamb and Jeff Adams and day cares to benefit currently include Little Sprouts Day Care and Lopez Day Care, with the possibility that a couple more could also share in the donated books and supplies.
All in the community are encouraged to come out and support the market, Saturday, June 4.
