Members of the California Farm Bureau leadership team visited Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil at her Capitol office earlier this month to formally present her with the Friend of Farm Bureau Award. The award was given in recognition of her outstanding services, devoted to protecting agriculture and supporting California’s farmers and ranchers.
Senator Alvarado-Gil serves on the Senate Agriculture Committee, ensuring the voices of the agriculture community in Senate District 4 are at the table. In her first months in office, the Senator has taken many actions to support the agriculture community including:
Sponsored CA SR22 declaring March 21, 2023 be recognized as California Agriculture Day to commemorate the crucial need and importance of agriculture in our daily lives.
Primary Sponsor CA SCR19 which proclaimed February 16, 2023 as California Almond Day to recognize and highlight not only that 90 percent of the 7,600 almond farms in California are family owned and made, but they are also beneficial for health reasons.
Introduced SB 470 Water: Urban Water Community Drought Relief program: Small Community Drought Relief program: high fire hazard and very high fire hazard severity zones.
Introduced SB 624 Fairs which would increase the amount of total gross receipts required to be included in the next annual Governor’s budget for use by the Department of Food and Agriculture and transferred to the Fair and Exposition Fund.
Senator Alvarado-Gil and her team attended a total of 26 Fair days providing resources to constituents and supporting the local agriculture communities.
$40 Million for the Food Production Investment Program at California Energy Commission. This substantial investment will bolster food production initiatives, promoting sustainability and innovation in the agricultural sector across the district.

Senator Alvarado-Gil represents the 4th Senate District including the counties of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne.
