The downtown business windows are painted, students are busy with on campus dress up days and the varsity football team is preparing to face off against Valley Oak League newcomer Patterson, in the battle of the Mustangs vs. the Tigers in the Homecoming clash.

Friday will be the finale of a week’s worth of activities, and includes the Homecoming Parade in the early afternoon, prior to the football games in The Corral.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m., following a route that takes off from in front of the high school on West G, turning right on to South Second, left on to East H Street, left on to South Third and then left on West G, to pass by the District Office before heading back to the high school.

The Oakdale Police Department is scheduled to lead off the parade, followed by this year’s Grand Marshal, OHS Counselor Davia Kirkpatrick. After the musical parade entry of the Oakdale High School Marching Band, the Prince and Princess candidates follow, then the King and Queen candidates, two to a vehicle. The decorated ASB club floats and class floats close out the parade.

All grade levels will have a float, kicked off by the seniors, then the juniors, followed by the sophomores and freshmen.

The entire parade is expected to last roughly a half-hour to 45 minutes and includes about two dozen entries.

Homecoming Royalty will be crowned later in the evening; and the varsity football Mustangs will look to add another win to their record, hoping to close out the Homecoming Week in style.
