Local authorities are urging residents to celebrate the weekend safely and put the focus on not driving impaired. The Oakdale Police Department will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, Jan. 17, at an undisclosed location from 7 p.m. Friday night to 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 to check for alcohol and drug impairment.
Oakdale Police remind the community that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving as well. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
