On stage this month, Delta Drama returns with the premiere of a brand-new play celebrating the life and works of the Marx Brothers, one of the most beloved, hilarious, and anarchic comedy teams of all time.
Written and directed by Delta College faculty member Reed Martin, “Harpo and Chico and Bill” centers around legendary 1949 performances of Harpo and Chico Marx at The London Palladium.
Filled with physical comedy and backstage drama, audiences will experience the joy of what it was like to see The Marx Brothers performing live and in person.
The production featuring Delta Drama students is scheduled for Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m.; Sunday, March 10 at 2 p.m.
Performances will be at the Alfred Muller Studio Theatre at Delta College, 5151 Pacific Ave., Stockton. Tickets are available at deltadrama.com; at the Delta College Box Office; or by calling (209) 954-5110. Seating is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. This production is recommended for ages 10 and up. Prices are $7 for general admission, 18 and older; $5 for students, up to 17 years old.
The Drama Program focuses on providing to the college community a Drama curriculum that develops knowledge, skills and competencies necessary for transfer to the upper division level as well as fulfilling AA Degree general education requirements.
Delta Drama Program provides a rigorous, disciplined, and integrated curriculum designed to meet the vocational demands of the theatre profession; scholarships are available to new students who qualify.
The Actor Training program is a two-year course of study in which students who have successfully auditioned can concentrate their efforts in rigorous acting classes three times a week in the first year and five times a week in the second year, while also studying stagecraft in separate technical classes.
