Looking to build on the success of the past couple of years, the Oakdale Halloween House effort is once again underway, with decorated homes able to get on the list for viewing later this month.

This is not a contest; it is strictly for fun, and residents are encouraged to decorate their house, lawn, porch, anything they want in a Halloween theme. The bigger, the better, and organizer Amy Velasco said residents are reminded that the houses will be viewed at night. Decorations need to be left up from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily during the viewing period, Friday, Oct. 25 through Thursday, Oct 31.

Businesses are also encouraged to take part and decorations can be cool, creepy, cute, crazy or terrifying; all left up to the discretion of the homeowner.

The list of participating homes and a map/viewing route will be released on Wednesday, Oct. 23 and houses must be ready for the Halloween viewing by Friday, Oct. 25.
