DA to file responses for Peterson case
Stan DA

Convicted murderer Scott Peterson, whose case has been taken up by the Los Angeles Innocence Project, is hoping for another day in court. He was convicted in the deaths of his wife, Laci, and their unborn son; his wife -eight months pregnant at the time – disappeared on Christmas Eve in 2002. Her body was found in April 2003 and Peterson was convicted in 2004.

Stanislaus County District Attorney Jeff Laugero indicated that during a status conference on Tuesday, March 12 in San Mateo County, Judge Elizabeth Hill set dates for the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office to file their responses to previously filed defense motions and for Scott Peterson’s counsel to file replies. Court dates were set to address each of the three motions, explained Laugero.

The Motion to Seal will be heard on April 6, 2024. The Motion for Post-Conviction DNA testing will be heard on May 29, 2024. The Motion for Post-Conviction Discovery will be heard on July 15, 2024. All hearings will begin at 9 a.m.

Inmate Scott Peterson will continue to appear at the hearings by Zoom.
