Doctors Medical Center and Valley Children’s Healthcare recently announced their new collaboration to continue to elevate the care provided in Doctors Medical Center’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The collaboration will add a network of neonatal and other pediatric specialists to Central Valley Doctors Health System’s existing providers.

“We are proud to have our highly skilled NICU team members working alongside Valley Children’s neonatologists and pediatric specialists. This collaboration helps expand the high-quality, compassionate care we provide for our smallest, most vulnerable patients,” said Jay Krishnaswamy, CEO of Doctors Medical Center. “This is another example of our commitment to making sure we provide access to excellent care close to home for our patients and their families.”

The Doctors Medical Center-Valley Children’s program is designed to enable both organizations to optimally care for Central Valley babies with high-risk, high-complexity, rare and critical cases.

Together, the organizations will work to ensure each patient has access to high-quality care that best serves their families’ needs.

“We are honored to have been selected by Doctors Medical Center and this new partnership furthers the shared commitment of our two organizations to continuously improve the level of neonatal care provided to our tiniest patients,” added Valley Children’s President and CEO Todd Suntrapak. “Valley Children’s has appreciated our work with Doctors Medical Center over the years, especially with the opening of our Pelandale Specialty Care Center in Modesto nearly five years ago. Our work together will ensure that kids from one end of the Valley to the other will have improved and streamlined access to the exceptional neonatal care provided by our organizations.”

Doctors Medical Center already provides one of the highest levels of care for babies born with critical or complex health issues through its Level III NICU. Doctors Medical Center’s sister hospital, Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, has a Level II NICU, also supported by Valley Children’s providers.

Doctors Medical Center, part of the Central Valley Doctors Health System, is the largest full-care hospital between Stockton and Fresno, and from the Sierras to the San Francisco Bay Area, with a 394-bed general acute care and a 67-bed inpatient psychiatric capacity. DMC is known for providing comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and emergency care. Doctors Medical Center offers a wide range of services including cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, surgical weight loss, emergency and trauma services, minimally-invasive and robotic surgery, women and children’s services, medical/surgical, behavioral health, oncology and critical/intensive care. Valley Children's Healthcare provides Central California’s only high-quality, comprehensive care exclusively for children, from before birth to young adulthood. Its network offers highly specialized medical and surgical services to care for children with conditions ranging from common to the highly complex. In addition, the Valley Children’s Healthcare network includes specialty care centers, pediatric primary care practices and women’s health services. Its family-centered, pediatric services extend from a leading pediatric cancer and blood diseases center on the West Coast, and a pediatric heart center known for its expertise and pioneering treatments, to a Regional Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the highest-level referral center between Los Angeles and the Bay Area. In 2023, U.S. News and World Report again named Valley Children’s one of the best children’s hospitals in the country in seven pediatric specialties, including Neonatology.
