Mid-December will bring the annual Coats & Cookies Event, hosted by Oak Valley Hospital’s Family Support Network, and officials are still looking for more donations.
The program provides gently used warm coats for those in need. Every coat counts, officials said, and donations of both youth and adult sizes would be greatly appreciated. Residents are asked to look through their closets and pull out the gently used winter coats they aren’t using anymore and drop them off at the Family Support Network. Donations are being taken at the 1405 W. F St., Suite A, location in Oakdale during regular business hours through Monday, Dec. 11.
The actual Coats & Cookies event will be staged Wednesday, Dec. 13 with the doors open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Come early for the best selection.
“Everyone is welcome to come and receive a gently used warm winter coat and some FSN Christmas cheer,” said Shellie LaMar of Family Support Network. “In addition to winter attire, there will be refreshments, hot chocolate, music, hot dogs, goodies for the kids and many opportunities to win fun raffle prizes.”
This year marks the 12th annual event, and Family Support Network personnel ask you to “Give the gift of warmth” and help make a difference for those in need.

“We are so excited to host this free family friendly event once again for our community,” LaMar added. “Last year, with kind and generous donations from our community members, we were able to distribute over 600 coats and jackets to families in need of a warm coat.”
