Longtime Oakdale High School teacher and football coach Trent Merzon will be recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award, being presented as part of the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce Awards Dinner. The event is scheduled for Friday, March 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The deadline for dinner tickets at $45 per person is Thursday, March 9 but there will also be an opportunity to buy tickets at the door for $55.
The festive evening highlights the best of the community and, along with Merzon’s Lifetime Achievement Award, there are several other categories.
Nominees in the various categories will find out who has been selected for the award at the dinner; the Lifetime Achievement is traditionally the only one unveiled prior to the ceremony.
Vying for the Junior Achievement Award are Roberto Lopez and Tyler Cooley.
Citizen of the Year nominees are Lisa Kjeldgaard, Gina Bruderle and Lupe Aguilera.
The Public Service Award nominees are Colleen Anderson, Patrick Mondragon and Diana Guerrero.
Young Professional of the Year nominees are Austin Romito, Kayleigh Gilbert and Will Jones, while the Organization of the Year nominees are Sierra 4-H, Family Support Network and Soroptimist International of Oakdale.
Each of the groups and individuals nominated are highlighted during the evening for their accomplishments and their impact on the community.
There was only one nominee for Business of the Year and that award will go to Astoria Senior Living.
