‘Bark’ event benefits local Relay For Life
BARK

Canine companions and their owners are invited to attend Saturday’s “Bark For Life” at PetSmart, 2100 McHenry Ave., Modesto with festivities running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Proceeds of the Sept. 21 American Cancer Society event will benefit the Relay For Life of Greater Stanislaus County, which includes teams from Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties. It is one of the final fundraising events of the Relay year, with the local event having so far raised more than $143,000. The 2024 Relay For Life was staged at Johansen High School in May; other activities throughout the year help support the fundraising efforts.

Cost to attend the Bark For Life is $25 for one dog and owner; $10 for each additional dog with the same owner. Those wishing to attend to support the event without a dog can register for $10. You can sign up online or at PetSmart the day of the event.

There will be a chance to mix and mingle with the dogs, participate in activities with the canine companions, learn more about the fight against cancer, share experiences and more.

Much like the human-focused Relay For Life, participants come together to celebrate cancer survivorship, to honor people lost to cancer, to fundraise in support of cancer research, education, awareness, patient services, advocacy, and to help eliminate the suffering that cancer causes worldwide.
