A Special Meeting was called by the Oakdale Joint Unified School District Board on Friday, June 23 at 5:30 p.m. The meeting was held in the OJUSD Tech Center.

During the Special Meeting, the appointment of a new Assistant Superintendent, Pupil Services was approved. Tracey Jakubowski was tapped for post; she has been an administrator for OJUSD for the last 15 years and previously served as the OJUSD Director of Special Education.

Also reviewed during the meeting was the change of position for the Director of Special Education to Director of Child Welfare and Attendance. The job description was reviewed and approved by the board as well.

Additionally, a regular OJUSD Board Meeting was added to the 2023-24 calendar. A meeting date of July 17, 2023 was added; typically, the board has a one-month hiatus for the summer. According to Superintendent Larry Mendonca, the meeting was added due to the fact that any employment contract or changes to salary schedules can only be approved at a regular meeting.

“In order for the district to officially have the necessary personnel in place to begin the school year, a Regularly Scheduled Board Meeting needed to be added in July,” Mendonca stated via e-mail.
