Annual Peddler’s Faire Slated In Knights Ferry
Knights Ferry

After having to take some time off the last few years because of restrictions associated with the pandemic, organizers of the Gold Country Peddler’s Faire in Knights Ferry are looking forward to bringing it to the region once again.

“This is the major fundraiser for our museum,” said Carol Davis, a member of the Peddler’s Faire Committee. “We were shut down for three years due to COVID, so we are excited to be able to again celebrate our history.”

Putting on the event is the Knights Ferry History & Museum Associates; the faire is scheduled for Sunday, April 30. The hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and the faire will go on, rain or shine. The Knights Ferry Museum will be open that day for anyone to visit. The downtown ice cream shop will be open as well, said Davis.

Over 100 arts and crafts, collectibles and antique vendors will be on hand for the faire, offering a wide variety of items for shoppers and collectors. There is no charge for admission to the Peddler’s Faire.

In addition to the faire itself, those planning to attend can first stop at the IOOF Hall on Main Street in Knights Ferry, where a pancake breakfast will be available for sale from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.

“Our show is held on U.S. Army Corps property on the south side of the Stanislaus River in the Sonora Road Park,” Davis added.

This is the 30th Gold Country Peddler’s Faire and officials are hoping that a good crowd turns out, having missed out on this event the past few years.

She went on to add that the historic covered bridge – designated as a National Historic Landmark in March of 2014 – is currently closed for safety reasons; pedestrian traffic is not allowed on the bridge.
