U.S. Navy E-3 EN FN Stephen Garcia II was deployed to Sasebo, Japan with the 6th Fleet. His job is an Engineman/Fireman. The Fleet will be doing maneuvers with the U.S. Navy 7th Fleet on their way back from Sasebo, Japan passing through Okinawa, Japan, the Philippines and Hawaii. They will then return to the Naval Weapons Station in San Diego.

He is the son of Steve and the late Karen Garcia of Oakdale. Beth Lovendahl of Salt Lake, Utah, and Katie Garcia of Oakdale are his sisters. Garcia is a 2007 Oakdale High School graduate.

Shane Allen and Katie Friel were engaged to be married when Shane proposed to Katie while ice skating in Union Square in San Francisco. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Clint and Mandy Friel and sister of Colton Friel, of Oakdale. Katie is a graduate of Oakdale High School and Abrams College and is now working at Kohl’s.
