Shane Allen and Katie Friel were engaged to be married when Shane proposed to Katie while ice skating in Union Square in San Francisco.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Clint and Mandy Friel and sister of Colton Friel, of Oakdale. Katie is a graduate of Oakdale High School and Abrams College and is now working at Kohl’s.

The prospective groom is the son of Dave and Teri Allen and brother to Megan, Wesley and Max Allen, all of Oakdale. Shane graduated from Central Catholic High School and IOT with an Associate Applied Science Degree in criminal justice and is pursuing a bachelors degree in communications with a focus in marketing and advertising. He is currently employed at Raley’s.

The couple plan to marry Sept. 6, 2014 in Oakdale.
